  • My E-Liquid Supplies will gradually transition to a food flavouring and food additive supplier during 2027.
  • International customers will not be affected by the new duty, as it only affects UK customers.
  • Our food flavour concentrates, Vegetable Glycerine (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG) will continue to play a key role in our future business, with no added duty.

Introduction

If you’ve been following the vaping industry recently, you’ve probably heard plenty of discussion about the new UK Vape Tax. Over the past few months, we’ve also received lots of questions from customers wanting to know what it means, when it starts, how much prices are likely to increase, and whether it’s worth buying before October 2026.

The short answer is yes. Prices are going up, and for many vaping products the increase will be significant.

From 1 October 2026, the UK Government will introduce the Vaping Products Duty (VPD), a new tax on vaping liquids sold in the UK. Unlike the gradual price increases we’ve seen over the years, this is a fixed duty that will affect the entire industry.

We’ve created this guide to explain what’s changing, show how the new duty could affect prices, explain the important changes taking place in April 2027, and share how My E-Liquid Supplies is preparing for the future.

Our aim isn’t to alarm anyone or encourage unnecessary purchases. We simply want to give our customers clear, accurate information so you can make informed decisions before the new duty comes into effect.

What Is the UK Vaping Products Duty?

The Vaping Products Duty (VPD) is a new tax being introduced by the UK Government from 1 October 2026.

Unlike VAT, which is calculated as a percentage of the selling price, this duty is charged according to the amount of vaping liquid contained within a product.

In simple terms, the larger the bottle, the more duty is payable.

That makes this very different from a normal price increase. Whether a bottle sells for £5 or £50, the duty is based on its volume rather than its retail value.

For manufacturers, importers and retailers, this represents one of the biggest changes the vaping industry has experienced in recent years. Every business supplying vaping products in the UK will need to adapt, and while retailers will continue to compete on price, the additional duty is unavoidable.

For customers, the important thing to understand is that this isn’t a temporary increase or a seasonal adjustment. It’s a permanent change to the way vaping products are taxed in the UK.

How Much Is the New Vape Tax?

The new duty has been set at:

£2.20 per 10ml of vaping liquid

VAT is then applied to that duty, taking the total increase to approximately:

£2.64 per 10ml

The real impact becomes clear when you look at larger bottle sizes.

Because the duty is charged on liquid volume, every additional 10ml attracts another £2.20 of duty before VAT is added. A 100ml bottle attracts ten times the duty of a 10ml bottle. A 500ml bottle attracts fifty times the duty, while a 1-litre bottle attracts one hundred times the duty.

That’s why larger bottles will experience the biggest increase in cash terms after 1 October 2026.

How Much More Could You Pay?

To help put the figures into perspective, we’ve used some examples based on our current pricing.

ProductCurrent PriceDutyVAT on DutyEstimated New Price
10ml Bottle£0.99£2.20£0.44£3.64
100ml Bottle£9.99£22.00£4.40£36.39
250ml Bottle£14.99£55.00£11.00£80.99

1 Litre (1000ml) 0mg E-Liquid£44.99£220.00£44.00£308.99

Please note: The prices above are illustrative examples. Final retail prices may vary depending on future supplier costs, VAT and other operating expenses.

Take our 1 Litre 0mg E-Liquid as an example. Today, it sells for £44.99 inc VAT. Once the new duty and VAT have been applied on top, the same bottle could cost around £308.99. That’s an increase of £264 minimum, before any other future cost increases are taken into account.

The vast majority of that increase comes from the new Government duty, which is calculated purely on the amount of liquid in the bottle.

Why Many Customers Are Buying Before October

Ever since the new duty was announced, we’ve noticed more customers choosing to plan their purchases a little further ahead.

If you already know which products you use every month, buying them before 1 October 2026 means you can purchase them at today’s prices rather than after the new duty has been introduced.

That’s particularly true for larger bottles. While they currently offer excellent value, they’ll also see the biggest cash increase once the duty comes into effect because the tax is based entirely on liquid volume.

Price isn’t the only reason people are planning ahead.

As the industry prepares for these changes, manufacturers and distributors are reviewing their product ranges, packaging and future plans. Some products will continue as normal, while others may be replaced, discontinued or produced in smaller quantities.

If there are products you buy regularly, it’s worth thinking ahead. Purchasing before October allows you to buy at current prices while existing stock and product ranges are still available.

Looking Ahead: The Future of My E-Liquid Supplies

The introduction of the UK Vaping Products Duty marks one of the biggest changes our industry has seen in many years.

After a great deal of planning, we’ve made the decision to gradually transition My E-Liquid Supplies from a vaping manufacturer to a food flavouring/food additive & chemical supplier, for a wide range of industries such as baking, beverage, ice cream etcetera.

This allows us to continue doing what we’ve always done best: supplying high-quality ingredients at competitive prices while providing the service our customers have come to expect.

As part of this transition, our food flavour concentrates, Vegetable Glycerine (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG) will remain a core part of our business. These products will continue to be supplied as food ingredients under our new business model and won’t be subject to the UK Vaping Products Duty.

The biggest changes will affect vape-specific products.

As manufacturers and suppliers adapt to the new market, it’s likely that some product ranges will become smaller, certain items may be discontinued, and availability could become less predictable. We’ll continue stocking these products for as long as possible, but once remaining stock has been sold, we may not always be able to source further supplies.

Although our business is changing, our commitment to our customers isn’t. We’ll continue focusing on quality products, fair pricing, fast dispatch and friendly customer service.

Supporting Our Customers Around the World

The UK Vaping Products Duty is a UK tax, but My E-Liquid Supplies has customers in many countries around the world, and we’d like to reassure you too.

As our business transitions towards supplying food flavourings and food additives, we’ll continue serving customers internationally and expanding our range of food ingredients.

Our food flavour concentrates, Vegetable Glycerine (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG) will continue to form an important part of our business and won’t be subject to the UK Vaping Products Duty under our new business model.

If you’re ordering from outside the UK, you can continue shopping with confidence. If you can’t find a particular product on our website, simply get in touch with us. We’ll always do our best to help and advise on availability.
